Australia Day Award nominees sought
It’s that time of year when we look to recognise some of our community’s finest achievers through the Australia Day Awards program.
Mayor Ron Bellingham today called on the people of Warwick Shire to search the community for worthy residents to nominate for the 2007 Awards.
“The Awards are an important way of recognising the outstanding contribution of individuals and groups, who through their commitment and effort, make Warwick Shire a better place to live,” Mayor Bellingham said.
“We are not necessarily looking for well known people, we are looking for people whose efforts inspire us and are worthy of recognition.”
Australia Day Awards are presented in eight categories:
- Citizen of the Year;
- Junior Citizen of the Year;
- Community Event of the Year;
- Cultural;
- Junior Cultural;
- Sports;
- Junior Sports; and
- Sports Administrator.
“If you know of any individual or group who you believe is worthy of recognition, please take the time to nominate them for the 2007 Australia Day Awards,” Mayor Bellingham said.
Nomination forms can be collected from Warwick Shire Council’s Administration Office, 64 Fitzroy Street, Warwick, or from the Warwick or Allora Libraries.
