Council advertises for applications for the

an application form and return it to Council
before the closing date. An interview will then
be arranged with a selection panel consisting
of the Youth Worker, Councillor, Advisory Committee
member and a current Ambassador.
Twelve
young people are selected with consideration
given to represent the following groups:
It
is acknowledged that not all groups may be able
to be represented but sometimes one young person
can represent a number of categories.
Condition
of accepting and being appointed as an Ambassador
involves attendance at a compulsory training
weekend (scheduled within the first month of
appointment). This training weekend involves
getting to know each other, team building, problem
solving, good food, introduction to Warwick

Benefits
from Young Ambassadors’ Perspectives
Quotes from past Ambassadors:
-
“Young Ambassadors has taught me a lot
and given me so many opportunities. I’ve
found that it’s a great way to meet
new people as well as to gain and improve
personal social skills, while at the same
time contributing to the community and making
a difference for young people in our Shire.”
-
“Different to most other youth councils,
Warwick’s Young Ambassadors Program
has allowed me to feel as though I’m
on the same level as the decision makers in
our Shire, through its relaxed structure,
placement of responsibility on all Ambassadors
and the incredible guidance of our Youth Worker.”
-
“In every measure – whether it
be productivity, effectiveness, teamwork,
skills learnt or simply relationships built
– the advantages and rewards of Young
Ambassadors speak for themselves”.
