Learn to Swim Levels

Held in our warm hydrotherapy pool, this class is essentially water-familiarisation. It allows babies to become accustomed to the water whilst still feeling safe and secure with Mum or Dad (Parental assistance required).
Now we move onto encouraging the child’s independence from their parent. There is a strong water safety element at this level.
Assisted by the instructor, the child learns various entries and exits as well as aquatic underarm.
More advanced skills such as torpedoes front and back, breath control and water safety essentials such as survival backstroke.
Skills include entries, exits, submerging, floating and treading water, freestyle arms and an introduction to lateral kicking.
Here emphasis in on acquiring good breathing technique. Back kicking is expanded, lateral kicking refined and freestyle on a board is perfected.
Reinforcement of freestyle drills, with the emphasis on learning correct backstroke technique.
Complete breaststroke is introduced at this level with revision of both freestyle and backstroke.
Butterfly is introduced at this level. Drill work on all strokes is undertaken. We require that a competent level in all strokes be reached before moving into our Squad levels.
