Rates
and Charges for the Year ending 30th June 2007
The
General Rate is based on the unimproved valuation of the
respective property as determined by the Department of
Natural Resources and Mines.
General
rates will be charged at 1.28 cents in the dollar on the unimproved
value of the rateable land and Council has set a uniform minimum
general rate of $450.00.
The
use of three year averaging has been adopted to mitigate the impact
of sudden rises in valuations from one year to the next, particularly
in the rural areas. The rate in the dollar is set at a level sufficient
to cover budgeted operating expenditure, planned asset replacement
and planned additional facilities and services, less revenue expected
from other sources. A single rate is considered by Council to be
the most fair and equitable basis for allocating the cost of Council's
services.

Payment
of Rates
Rates
can be paid by calling in personally at one of Council's
offices in Warwick or Allora or by forwarding cheques or
postal orders through the mail to Post Office Box 26, Warwick
Q 4370.
Bpay
can be arranged by contacting your participating Bank, Credit
Union or Building Society to make this payment from your
cheques or savings account.
Payments
can be made direct to any branch of the Warwick Credit
Union
Payments can also be paid on-line.

Provision
has also been made for payments to be made at the Leyburn and
Dalveen Post Offices.
EFTPOS
facilities are available for the payment of rates at the
Council Administration Office (corner Fitzroy and Albion
Streets) and credit card payments can be made at Council
agencies (excluding banking institutions)
Should
any ratepayer not be able to pay the total rate amount within
30 days they should immediately contact council on 4661 0300
and make arrangements for payment by instalments. Any
time-payment arrangements entered into will result in the loss
of discount if full payment is not completed on or before the
discount expiry date. Council will accept rate payments in
advance of the issue of rate notices.
Rates
Database
Warwick Shire Council offers an online property enquiry facility
for subscribers. The service provides details on ownership,
valuation, outstanding fees and physical details of every
property in the shire. The service is available only to Real
Estate Agents, Solicitors and Valuers through payment of an
annual subscription fee.
