Warwick
Shire provides a great range of civic and commercial
services which are backed up by a genuine country town
friendliness and charm. Our residents value space, open
air and a safe peaceful lifestyle, but nevertheless
have adopted the best of modern living.
Warwick
Shire - in the heart of Queensland's rich Darling Downs
- not only produces some of Australia's best agricultural
produce, it also offers an ideal environment in which
to live, for business and industry.
The
current population of the Shire is 21,387 with 11,000
people living in the town of Warwick. The statistical
projections predict a population growth of around 2%.
Warwick
is noted for it's mild summers and chilly winters with
the elevation of approximately 450 metres being the
dominant control of temperatures for both seasons.
You
will enjoy the best of town and country living with
the peace of our countryside and the services available.
The Murray Darling river system has its beginning here
with mountain spring fed streams becoming the Condamine
River. Our small towns, our lakes and waterways, together
with our bush and mountain ranges are here to enjoy.
Warwick boasts a good mix of education facilities with
twenty-five schools including six private schools. Education
is catered for from Pre School to a campus of the Southern
Queensland Institute of TAFE, and access to an open
learning centre.
Sporting
and leisure activities include an Indoor Recreation
and Aquatic Centre with heated pools, hydrotherapy pool,
health and weight loss centre, sports courts and gymnasium.
The range of activities available in Warwick include
golf, lawn bowls, four codes of football, horse racing,
equine, rodeo, hockey, netball, basketball, croquet,
volleyball, cricket, fishing, water sports, bushwalking,
national parks and four wheel driving. In 2003 Warwick
hosted the inaugural Polocrosse World Cup at the state
of the art Morgan Park facility.
